Mehmet Akdağ is the Chief Executive Officer of the AKDAĞLAR Group. He gives particular importance to Education and he started his university education when he was 40 years old based on the motto that reads “it is never late to learn”. Currently he holds 2 diplomas. Working is hereditary for him and he has an entrepreneur spirit holding honesty and righteousness above all.
Akdağlar Group operates in the areas of mining, construction, asphalt and foreign trade. The group consists of nearly 15 companies. It has around 1500 employees and has been in the business world since 1930. In the field of mining, the group has aggregate mines in İstanbul and deals with concrete and asphalt works. Daily stone chips production is 20-thousand tonnes while daily asphalt production is 7-thousand tonnes. Akdağlar Group has nickel mines in Osmaniye which it exports to Macedonia.
The Group has copper and nickel mines in Albania and it plans to have its company in Albania be listed in stock exchanges of Canada. This will the first mining company of Albania listed in stock exchanges. In addition the Group is the largest iron exporter of Turkey.
Akdağlar Group also includes a construction segment which carried out projects in Tarsus – Adana – Gaziantep motorway and İzmir – Çeşme highway. It completed 600-flat housing project in Halkalı for Toki and the Fulya Project of the Beşiktaş Sports Club covering an area of 350.000 sqm by forming a joint venture with a construction company. It finished the Seba – Akdağ Dream project in İstinye. Currently it continues the AKPLAZA Business centre construction in Kasımpaşa with a total closed area of 50.000 sqm.
In addition, it imports “bitumen” which is the raw material of asphalt through its company ASB. By producing asphalt with “AMMANN Asphalt Plant” which has the production capacity of 840.000 tonnes/year and 350 tonnes/hour, Akdağlar Group executes asphalt projects.
This company is the first in Turkey to obtain GSM licence (Non-Sanitary Enterprises). It also holds CAD, CE, WCS, TSE, ISO 9001, ISO 14001:2004 certificates. AKDAĞLAR Group also gives importance to social responsibility and maintains a dormitory for 100 students. It provides scholarship to 50 successful students who have low-income family. AKDAĞLAR GROUP committed itself to comply with honesty and principle based management mentality, to develop its activity areas and to carry on its successful projects.
