South African Ambassador Visited BTSO

Mr Vika Khumalo, Ambassador of the Republic of South Africa to Turkey and Mr. Tamer Taşkın, Coordinating President of the DEİK Turkish – African Business Councils visited the Bursa Chamber of Trade and Industry (BTSO).

Mr Vika Khumalo, Ambassador of the Republic of South Africa to Turkey and Mr. Tamer Taşkın, Coordinating President of the DEİK Turkish – African Business Councils visited the Bursa Chamber of Trade and Industry (BTSO). During the visit, emphasis has been put on the necessity to further develop bilateral relations.
 
İlhan Parseker, Head of the BTSO Council and member of the execution board of TOBB, expressed his satisfaction from the visit and said: “There are lots of business opportunities in South Africa and Bursa, we need to bring these together. Despite the fact that there is a broad business potential of South Africa, we are sorry that the foreign trade volume between the two countries is not at the same level”.
 
Parseker reminded that 60 companies of BTSO have foreign trade relations with BTSO and this number would increase and the trade volume would be improved with the contributions of both parties.
 
Mr. Ali Hazır, Deputy President of BTSO stated that BTSO hosted around 20-25 ambassadors and consuls from mainly European Union countries and held bilateral business visits and talks. He said: “I care about the visit of Mr. Ambassador as such a visit from Africa is not usual. And I noticed that we neglected our relations with Africa. We really need to better understand and describe Africa”.
 
Vika M. Khumalo, Ambassador of the Republic of South Africa to Turkey made an evaluation and said that what is spoken is the Africa continent which is a rising value where more than 1 billion people live. He added: “We talk about a rising value.  Actually we think that this century is the century of Africa. We notice that the economic growth increased. There is a continuing growth despite the Euro crisis and global finance crisis.”
 
Vika M. Khumalo, Ambassador of the Republic of South Africa, said that they gave great importance to infrastructure and concluded: “I would like to tell about a number in this matter. We dedicated USD 397 billion to this field. We allocated this money for developing infrastructure and establishing partnerships between 2013 and 2030.”
 
Following the speeches, İlhan Parseker gave to Mr. Ambassador Vika M. Khumalo an İznik tile as a gift. (CİHAN)
