NIPOST says 3000 jobs will be available

Nigeria Postal Services (NIPOST) mapped out strategies to broaden the scope and coverage of all sectors of the economy towards effective implementation of the Stamp Duties Act.

The Post Master General of the Federation, Mallam Ibrahim Mori Baba said that the Nigeria Postal Services (NIPOST) is poised to generate about three thousand new jobs for Nigerian graduates before the end of the year.

In his remark at the opening ceremony of a two-day summit on Implementing Stamping Protocol in Nigeria, Baba said NIPOST in conjunction with 10 private companies had mapped out strategies to broaden the scope and coverage of all sectors of the economy towards effective implementation of the Stamp Duties Act.

He decried the lackluster implementation of stamping protocol in Nigeria by government agencies as well as the private sector, saying the country is losing millions of naira in revenue to the development on daily basis.

He said there is the need for government agencies and the private sector to key into the implementation of the act without further delay, stressing that the country’s economic growth depends largely on revenue accruing not only from oil, but other sources such as the stamp duty levy.

“I am pleased to inform you that NIPOST as an organization has done so much to create awareness of the existence of the Stamp Duties Act and I am glad to let you know that Jigawa and Osun states have approved the full compliance with the provisions of the Act by its Ministries and Agencies,” Mallam Baba said.
