Ivory Coast got the 2015 African Cup of Nations by defeating Ghana 9-8 on penalties. The final match of the Cup held in Equatorial Guinea was played between Ivory Coast and Ghana. The 120-minute match didn’t have many potential goal positions. The result was determined by penalties.
Ivory Coast started 2-0
Ghana got the first penalty and scored two first the penalties. Ivory Coast missed two penalties, one of which hit the goalpost, the other went outside. Ghana could not use this advantage well and missed the third and fourth penalties. Ivory Coast scored another two penalties and the score was 2-2 before the last penalties. Afterwards both team scored 6 penalties each. For Ghana, it was goalkeeper Razak’s turn for a penalty shot. His counterpart Barry saved the penalty and the advantage passed to Ivory Coast. Ivory Coast’s goalkeeper Barry scored the winning spot-kick which Razak failed to save and with this goal, Ivory Coast became triumphant.

Ghanaian Ayew was so upset, Ivory Coast Manager Herve Renard tried to calm him down for a long time. Ivory Coast won their first Africa Cup of Nations since 1992.
